I have only been couponing for a few months, so it’s still fairly new to me. What I didn’t realize was how quickly I would become obsessed with it! I also didn’t realize how many coupons are out there, it’s amazing. I’m actually pretty annoyed I ever paid full price for anything. If you haven’t tried couponing yet, definitely give it a try. Saving money is addicting!
Anyway, one thing I noticed right away is that it was super hard to keep track of my coupons without having some sort of system. I was just throwing all of my coupons in to this bag:
Now, imagine all of these coupons just thrown in there:
Yeah… it was a mess. And I was definitely that lady at the register annoying everyone else because I couldn’t find my coupons or even remember which ones I had. So I decided I needed some sort of filing system for my coupons that would fit in my purse. What I found was the Coupon Cubby.
It comes with these pre-written labels, but they are mostly for groceries. I use coupons for everything, not just groceries, so I was disappointed about that.
But, it came with some blank labels and I labeled them myself (excuse my gross handwriting). I do wish it came with more blank labels because I can think of a few more I would add. But, this is still a lot better than what I had before.
This is what it looks like once it’s all put together:
It also has a zipper in the back where you can throw your cash, cards, ID, etc. The back has an ID slot that I just filled with a card that says “If found please return to…” and then my contact information. Because I would die if I lost all of the coupons I spent so much time clipping! The cubby also comes with a shoulder strap so you can wear the cubby alone instead of throwing it in your purse. I originally didn’t think I would use it this way, but I actually did when I went to do groceries. I could fit my phone in the front pocket and my money and license in the zip pocket. It was much lighter than carrying a purse, so that was nice. I just wish the shoulder strap was long enough to wear as a cross body bag.
Now I have all of my coupons filed away and they are extremely easy to find. Before I go to the store, I move all of the coupons I plan on using to the “checkout” tab and remember to look for all of those items. If I don’t use them, I just file them back away. But now when I’m at the register, I just pull them out of the checkout tab and am done in no time. Huge difference!! I almost gave up on couponing just because of the mess I was making, but now I feel much better about it.
